Britain has a "fair and balanced" trading relationship with the US, a government spokesman has said.
According to foreign media, after US President Donald Trump suggested that he is ready to extend his tariff regime to both the UK and the EU, there have been fears about the imminent prospect of a trade war.
Speaking about the announcement, the government spokesman said: "The US is an indispensable ally and one of our closest trading partners and we have a fair and balanced trading relationship that benefits both sides of the Atlantic.
"We look forward to working closely with President Trump to continue building the UK-US trading relationship for the British economy, businesses and people," he said further, writes A2 CNN.
Trump has said tariffs on imports from Europe are coming and did not rule out imposing tariffs on UK goods, but also said the situation with Britain "can be resolved". (A2 Televizion)
