The Kremlin has dismissed Turkish media reports that suggested Bashar al-Assad's wife wanted a divorce and left Russia.
According to foreign media, earlier this month, Assad, his wife Asma and members of his family arrived in the Russian capital after fleeing Syria.
Assad's location was confirmed after Russian news agencies said Moscow had reached an agreement with Syrian opposition leaders.
A source said that the rebels had guaranteed the security of Russian military bases and diplomatic institutions in Syria, writes A2 CNN.
But yesterday, Turkish and Arab media reported that Asma al-Assad had filed for divorce from her husband in Russia.
Asked in a phone call whether the reports about Asma al-Assad correspond to reality, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "No, they do not correspond to reality."
He also dismissed Turkish media reports suggesting Assad was holed up in Moscow and Russia had frozen his property assets.
We recall that Assad escaped from Syria, after an offensive by opposition rebels, who within a week took power in the Middle Eastern country, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
