A plane crashed last night near Honduras, minutes after taking off from the island of Roatan, killing seven people while 10 others were pulled alive from the wreckage.
The Jetstream plane of the Honduran airline Lansa was carrying 14 passengers and three crew members, the transport minister said, adding that the wreckage was found one kilometer off the island's coast.
According to the flight log shown by local media, the passengers included an American citizen, a French citizen and two minors.
Roatan Fire Chief Franklin Borjas confirmed the death toll. According to the fire department, famous local musician Aurelio Martinez Suazo was among the victims.
The causes of the accident are still unclear, as an investigation has begun. (A2 Televizion)
