At least 30 people have died in Beijing as northern China experiences days of torrential rain and flooding. The highest number of fatalities is reported in Miyun district, northeast of Beijing, writes A2 CNN.
Authorities in China's capital have evacuated more than 80,000 people as more rain is forecast for Tuesday. About 130 villages have been left without power and dozens of roads have been blocked.
Footage circulating on social media shows brown floodwaters rushing through residential communities, knocking down electricity poles and turning roads into rivers in Miyun.
Dozens of roads have been damaged, complicating rescue efforts, and in more than 100 smaller, more rural villages, the rains have also cut off electricity.
President Xi Jinping has ordered comprehensive search and rescue efforts to prevent more casualties, A2 CNN reports.
Beijing is known for its extremely wet weather, especially at this time of year. Floods in July 2012 killed 79 people, the deadliest to date. (A2 Televizion)
