Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to an "immediate and unconditional ceasefire" starting at midnight local time after days of fighting along the two countries' disputed border.
The nations will convene a meeting of regional commanders from the Cambodian and Thai sides on Tuesday, July 29, according to the Malaysian prime minister who brokered the peace talks as the current chairman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, writes A2 CNN.
The Cambodian Prime Minister and the acting Prime Minister of Thailand met at the Prime Minister's official residence, south of the capital Kuala Lumpur.
Both sides have accused each other of starting the latest escalation in the border fighting, which has killed at least 35 people and injured more than 200, according to figures from Thai and Cambodian officials. Their border dispute dates back decades. (A2 Televizion)
