U.S. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida became the first of President Donald Trump's cabinet nominees to be sworn in. In his speech, he stressed that U.S. foreign policy under Trump will put American needs first.
"Trump's primary promise when it comes to foreign policy is that the priority of the United States Department of State will be the United States, it will continue to be the national interest of this country," Rubio said after being sworn in in front of US Vice President JD Vance.
He added that another foreign policy goal under Trump will be promoting peace.
"Of course, peace through strength, peace and always without abandoning our values," Rubio said.
The US Senate unanimously confirmed Rubio, an anti-China hawk and staunch supporter of Israel, just hours after Trump took office. Senate votes on Trump's other nominees are expected to be approved this week. (A2 Televizion)
