A Delta Air Lines plane caught fire as it was preparing for takeoff from Orlando International Airport on Monday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced.
The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m., when an Airbus A330 engine caught fire shortly before takeoff to Atlanta.
There were 282 passengers and 12 crew members on board Flight 1213, who were safely evacuated via emergency exits. According to Delta, there are no reports of injuries.
Airline spokespeople confirmed that the crew reacted immediately and correctly implemented evacuation procedures after flames were observed in the exhaust system of one of the engines.
The FAA has launched an investigation to determine the causes of the incident, while the event comes in a period with several similar cases at US airports, adding to concerns about safety in the aviation sector. (A2 Televizion)
