Trump reinstates federal death penalty, suspends foreign aid, and purges

Donald Trump signed an order reinstating the federal death penalty, lifting Joe Biden's 2021 moratorium.

The president also ordered the attorney general to implement the death penalty "regardless of other factors" when a case involves the murder of an agent or capital crimes "committed by aliens unlawfully present in the country," as well as to "take all necessary and lawful action" to ensure that states have enough lethal injection drugs.

We emphasize that only three defendants remain on death row, after Biden converted 37 death sentences to life imprisonment.

As announced before taking office, Trump also signed an executive order temporarily suspending all U.S. foreign assistance programs for 90 days, pending reviews to determine whether they align with U.S. policy objectives.

Trump also launched the proverbial "purges," announcing that he wanted to remove over a thousand people appointed by the previous administration.

"My Office of Presidential Personnel is actively engaged in identifying and removing over a thousand presidential appointees from the previous administration who are not aligned with our vision of Making America Great Again," Trump said in a statement. (A2 Televizion)
