Trump promises global businesses lower taxes on goods made in the US: Otherwise,

United States President Donald Trump on Thursday invited global businesses to manufacture their products in the United States and promised them lower taxes, but warned that if they choose to manufacture goods elsewhere, they will have to pay tariffs to export them to the United States.

"America is back and open for business," President Trump told corporate leaders at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, via video link from Washington.

“My message to every business in the world is very simple: Come and make your product in America and we will give you the lowest taxes in the world,” Mr. Trump said. “But if you don’t make your product in America, which is your right, then, quite simply, you will have to pay a tariff.”

President Trump, on the third day of his second term, said he wants to cut the tax rate for American corporations from 21 percent to 15 percent, although this would require approval from his political allies in the Republican-controlled Congress.

Mr Trump promised that the United States would supply Europe with the liquefied natural gas it needs, but added that the European Union treats the United States "very, very unfairly" with the regulations it imposes on American businesses operating in the 27-nation bloc.

The president particularly complained about fees and environmental impact reports for new construction projects, calling them "things you shouldn't do."

He said he plans to ask Saudi Arabia and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to lower the price of the oil they produce in order to boost the global economy.

He argued that if the current global oil price - around $77 per barrel - drops, "the war in Ukraine will end immediately."

Russia uses revenues from its oil production to finance its three-year war against neighboring Ukraine.

Mr. Trump said that in the global economy, the US "just wants to be treated fairly by other countries."

He asserted that the United States wants to have a "fair relationship" with China, the world's second-largest economy.

"We don't want to take advantage," he said of Washington-Beijing relations. "We want to have fair competition."/ VOA (A2 Televizion)
