Turkey successfully tests laser missile defense system

Turkish military company Aselsan has successfully tested the YILDIRIM 100 electronic countermeasure system, which prevents short-range missiles from hitting helicopters, drones and low-flying aircraft.

Based on the experience of fighting with the PKK in the east of the country, in which it lost more than 15 helicopters, the Turkish army is taking a package of measures to protect itself from anti-aircraft missiles with this system.

In the test presented, YILDIRIM 100 successfully prevented the Igla missile system from destroying the target, whose thermal reflection it took over, using laser countermeasures, reports Telegraph.

The company assures that this laser system does not require an excessive amount of power, which makes this system miniature and economical enough to be installed on fixed-wing airplanes, drones, and helicopters.

Its twin-turret design, advanced sensors and integrated control unit enable rapid and coordinated responses and uninterrupted communication with missile warning systems.

At the moment, only a few countries have laser countermeasure technology, so Turkish defense companies once again confirmed their growing technological strength. /Telegraph/ (A2 Televizion)
