Two Albanian nationals have been arrested in Barcelona by Spanish authorities after they were caught with 2.4 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a shoebox in a taxi. According to reports, the arrest of the two suspects, a 26-year-old and a 37-year-old, came after a routine police check, which discovered the narcotics hidden in the vehicle.
The two Albanians had been using the taxi as a method to transport the drugs without attracting attention, but their suspicious movements led the police to stop them for a check. During the inspection, several packages of cocaine were found, ready for distribution. Investigators have launched an in-depth investigation to find out if the arrested are part of a larger drug trafficking network.
In addition to drug trafficking charges, the two arrested will face serious penalties, as Spanish law provides for severe sanctions for crimes related to drug trafficking. This arrest is part of a wider operation aimed at combating drug trafficking, especially that led by international criminal organizations. The two Albanians are currently in custody and are expected to appear before the judicial authorities.
