President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine has been invited to the next NATO summit this month.
According to foreign media, the Netherlands is scheduled to host a summit of NATO leaders in The Hague between June 24-25, and further military and political support for Ukraine is expected to be a key topic at the summit.
At the summit, the Ukrainian leader said: “We were invited to the NATO summit. I think this is important.”
Zelenskyy did not specify who would represent Ukraine at the event, writes A2 CNN.
Zelenskyy has called on NATO to provide security guarantees to Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire or peace agreement with Russia.
He has also pushed for Ukraine to join the defense alliance and has even said he is willing to give up his presidency for it.
But Moscow has said that conditions for ending the war in Ukraine include a demand that Western leaders commit in writing to stopping NATO's eastward expansion. (A2 Televizion)
