The Guardia di Finanza in Catanzaro has arrested 10 people, 5 Colombians and 5 Italians, accused of drug trafficking from South America. According to investigators, Colombian groups supplied cocaine to criminal organizations operating in Calabria, Lazio and Veneto. The arrested had also set up a laboratory for the transformation of cocaine from liquid to solid, bringing a "chemist" from Colombia to manage this activity.
The operation, born from a previous investigation in Calabria, was carried out with the collaboration of the Central Service for the Investigation of Organized Crime and the Provincial Command of Rome, while the arrest warrants were issued by the court following the request of the Anti-Mafia of Rome.
The organization was particularly active in the capital, where, through direct contacts with Colombian suppliers, it managed to send several drug shipments using various transportation methods. Authorities discovered the use of charter and private jets. They also used ships to hide the cocaine in the engines of containers.
In addition, Colombian authorities announced another massive drug seizure. Police have seized a shipment of 8.2 tons of cocaine at the port of Buenaventura, one of the largest cocaine seizures in the country's history, worth more than $450 million. (A2 Televizion)
