Away from Gaza, the US envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, is in Italy to meet with senior Israeli and Qatari officials to discuss the possibility of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
According to foreign media, the plans being discussed reportedly include a 60-day ceasefire, greater access for aid and the release of Israeli hostages.
The move comes as the Israeli government says it has received Hamas' response to its proposal for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and that it is being considered. It is not yet known what this latest proposal includes, writes A2 CNN.
Earlier this month, Palestinian officials familiar with the details of the discussions told the BBC's Gaza correspondent, Rushdi Abualouf, that negotiations between Israel and Hamas over a new ceasefire in Gaza and a deal to release hostages were on the verge of failure. (A2 Televizion)
