Russia has received US approval for its new ambassador to the United States, according to Reuters.
According to foreign media, Alexander Darchiev will leave for Washington DC soon to take office.
Most recently, he was the head of the Department for North America at the Russian Foreign Ministry, writes A2 CNN.
Moscow has not had an ambassador in Washington since last October, when previous envoy Anatoly Antonov left his post.
This move came after the meeting in Turkey of the political representatives of the two countries, with the aim of restoring embassies in their respective capitals.
We recall that with the coming to power of President Donald Trump in the US, the country has pursued a foreign policy different from that of his predecessor, revealing tensions with Moscow. (A2 Televizion)
