Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that a prisoner exchange with Russia has begun, with the first group of Ukrainians returning home from captivity, according to him.
According to foreign media, both Moscow and Kiev spent the last few days accusing each other of obstructing the exchange, which was agreed during direct talks in Istanbul last week.
Posting on social media, Zelenskyy said the exchange would continue in several stages in the coming days. He added that the first group to return were the wounded, mainly the seriously injured, as well as those under 25, A2 CNN writes.
"We are doing our best to bring everyone back. We are working on this at all levels," he says. "We need to bring home everyone who is in captivity. Thank you to everyone who is helping." (A2 Televizion)
