Syria's new first lady, Latifa al-Daroubi, made her first appearance abroad, visiting Turkey with her husband, Ahmed al-Sara.
According to foreign media, this visit came within the framework of the visit of the new President of Syria to Ankara. Ms. al-Daroubi also met with Recep Tayyip Erdogan's wife, Emine, with whom she also took a photo.
As reported by Turkish media, in the meeting between the two women in Ankara, Latifa al-Daroubi and Emine Erdogan exchanged views on humanitarian aid, women's empowerment and the role of education.
The two First Ladies also discussed steps that Turkey and Syria can take together to support women and children suffering from wars around the world.
Ms. Al-Daroubi reportedly expressed her gratitude to Turkey for Ankara's support in the reconstruction of Syria.
"I had the pleasure of welcoming Mrs. Latifa al-Daroubi, the wife of the Syrian president, who paid an official visit to our country. We had the opportunity to discuss several important issues such as humanitarian aid, social solidarity, strengthening the position of women and the role of education. I told her that we stand by the Syrian people, as we have done in the past, in the process of rebuilding Syria and healing its wounds. I believe that the future of peace and stability will be the result of joint efforts and I hope that every step we take in this direction will be a hope for the people of the region," Emine Erdogan wrote in 'X', after the meeting they held.
