The Chairperson of the National Integration Council, Jorida Tabaku, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Agron Gjekmarkaj, and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, held a meeting with the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos.
Senior democratic officials briefed Commissioner Kos on developments in Albania, assuring her that the opposition supports the integration process.
During the conversation, the Democrats recognized the senior European Union official, with the majority's attempt to undo the role of the opposition in the Assembly and the refusal to implement the decisions of the Constitutional Court.
DP officials also informed the Commissioner that the opposition is under attack and that Prime Minister Edi Rama is using justice for this purpose. They mentioned the fact that opposition leader Sali Berisha was placed under house arrest for more than a year without any facts or evidence.
The country's former President and Freedom Party Chairman Ilir Meta was arrested in complete violation of human rights, while the deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Group Ervin Saljanji is in prison only because he denounced the majority's ties to organized crime. (A2 Televizion)
