The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, visited the KFOR command in Pristina, where he met with the commander of this mission, Major General Enrico Barduani, and the Albanian personnel serving there.

Begaj expressed gratitude to Major General Barduani for his contribution and thanked his country, Italy, which has the largest number of troops in Kosovo, writes A2.

In his welcoming speech, Begaj said that Albanians have never been aggressors and that independent Kosovo is now a reality that will never return.

In its response, KFOR said that the visit of the President of Albania was an opportunity to present KFOR's activities under its UN mandate and the ongoing security efforts in support of the EU-facilitated dialogue. Major General Barduani also congratulated President Begaj for Albania's many years of contributions to KFOR and regional stability.

KFOR continues to implement its mandate - based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 - to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo.

The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, during his visit to Kosovo for the 17th anniversary of Independence, also participated in the ceremony that the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, held on the occasion of the decoration of figures with contributions to the liberation and independence of Kosovo.

Referring to the activism of patriots in Albania in the training of the first groups of fighters led by Adem Jashari, President Begaj assessed that this moment demonstrated the spirit of the Albanians and the national conscience. (A2 Televizion)
