The remains of 11 Kosovo Albanians who disappeared during the war with Serbia have been found in a mass grave in Bishtažin, Gjakova. Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced the news through a reaction on social media, explaining that these victims were abducted by Serbian state forces after the massacre in the village of Kralan.
"After 26 springs of waiting and anxiety for the families, 11 missing during the war have been found and identified in the mass grave in Bishtažin. After the massacre in Kralan, Serbian state forces had abducted them and buried them in mass graves, in an attempt to eliminate them, along with evidence of the crimes. On April 2, 1999, they, along with hundreds of Albanian men and boys, were forcibly gathered by Serbian military and police forces in a field in Kralan, surrounded by tanks. There they were held under constant torture, without water and food for two days. On April 4, 86 men and boys were detained, including 11 minors. Since that day, none of them have been seen alive. Some of them were found near Lake Peruqac in Bajina Bashta, Serbia. After exhumation from Bishtažin, Serbia abducted the bodies," informs the head of the government of Pristina.
The Prime Minister says that the open wounds of enforced disappearances are the truth of the inhumane crimes and genocide committed by Serbia during the war in Kosovo.
"In these difficult days, it is not easy to find words of comfort that can fill the void left by their absence. It is difficult to find words powerful enough to describe the strength and unwavering patience of the family members throughout these years. In these days, and every other day, we share the pain and honor for the martyrs and martyrs of the nation in Kosovo. We stand together to prevent oblivion from covering the atrocities that occurred in the war. We are united in the battle for truth and justice. We are close to the families, with all possible support, in this difficult journey of pain and memory. May the memory of all our loved ones who sacrificed their lives for the freedom that we enjoy be eternal. Glory!", he concluded.
Kurti has also published the names of the people identified in this mass grave.
