462 new police officers, 56 of whom are girls, will contribute to guaranteeing law and order in Kosovo. The 61st generation of police officers was sworn in this Friday in a ceremony attended by heads of state.
President Vjosa Osmani said that the Kosovo Police is one of the main pillars of the state, guaranteeing sovereignty and territorial integrity. According to her, the police is the shield of peace and freedom.
"Order and security are the foundation of a successful society. Meanwhile, these boys and girls who care for our order and security are the shield of peace and freedom for which our people have sacrificed for centuries. This best defines the role of the Kosovo Police, an institution that is not only an enforcer of the law, but is a protector and guarantor of freedom for every citizen of the Republic of Kosovo without distinction," said Osmani, writes A2.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that the gender and ethnic structure of this generation of the Kosovo Police shows the structure of society and the policies of the state: "There is no more direct path than to wear the police uniform and take on the responsibility of responding to the daily needs and calls of citizens. The gender and ethnic structures of this generation of cadets who are becoming police officers from today also show the structure of our society and the policies of our state. In the 61st generation, a total of 462 new police officers are graduating today, of whom 406 are boys and men and 56 are girls and women. Of this generation, 343 are Albanians, 79 are Serbs, 23 are Bosnians, 6 are Turks, 6 are Egyptians, 3 are Ashkali and 2 are Roma."
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, said that the graduation of the 61st generation makes the Kosovo Police stronger and the country safer: "On the occasion of the graduation of our sons and daughters, of the 61st generation, the Kosovo Police will be stronger and our republic even safer. Thanks to the unstoppable and professional work of our Police, the Republic of Kosovo today ranks first in the Western Balkans for the rule of law and order according to the global justice project. Along this journey, you will meet and share experiences with your colleagues and superiors who in recent years have been exemplary in their duties.
