Minister Gërvalla calls for the end of the UNMIK mission at the Security

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, in her speech before the United Nations Security Council in New York, has asked the international community to seriously address Serbia's destabilizing actions against the Republic of Kosovo and, at the same time, to stop the logic of denial and relativization of serious crimes that threaten peace and stability in the Balkans.

Speaking about the armed attack of September 24, 2023 in Banjska, where police officer Afrim Bunjaku lost his life, Minister Gërvalla stated that 'this was not simply an isolated incident', but a planned act of aggression based in Serbia and carried out by paramilitary groups led by terrorist Milan Radoićić, a person closely linked to the Serbian political elite, writes A2 CNN.

“Calling this a 'serious security incident,' as the UNMIK report describes it, is a blatant distortion of reality. This was a pure act of aggression sponsored, armed and supported by Serbia. It was state terrorism. It was an act of war,” said Minister Gërvalla.

Furthermore, the minister also emphasized the attack of November 29, 2024 on the Ibër-Lepenc canal, an attack that targeted critical civilian infrastructure and endangered the lives of thousands of citizens.

Minister Gervalla stated that Serbia has refused to cooperate in the investigation, despite its public statements. The Minister also criticized UNMIK's reporting, describing it as biased and inconsistent with the reality on the ground.

"UNMIK is no longer harming Kosovo, it is harming the credibility of the United Nations. Unlike other UN agencies that are true partners, UNMIK has become an obstacle to the truth," she declared.

Calling on the international community for justice, Minister Gërvalla has demanded that Serbia hand over Milan Radoicic and other members of the terrorist group to the Kosovo authorities, and that state support for criminal structures in Kosovo be stopped.

In conclusion, the Minister stated that the Republic of Kosovo is a consolidated democracy, which respects the rights of all communities and is a model for stability in the region. However, she added, without justice and without accurate naming of crimes, peace will remain fragile. (A2 Televizion)
