A protest has been organized in Pristina demanding that the decision to increase the price of electricity not be made.
Holding slogans such as "The state is silent, citizens do not stop", "New tariffs, new injustice", "KEDS should be returned to the people", "Impairment of the majority, enrichment of the minority", "There is no light with injustice", citizens gathered near the Kosovo Government building, opposed the demand from energy companies to increase energy tariffs by 15 percent, writes A2.
The organizers of the protest said that in addition to the increase in electricity prices, a wave of price increases for products and services has also been announced, so they said that the citizens of Kosovo "do not deserve to have their lives made more difficult."
After the protest at Skenderbeu Square, the protesters continued their march towards the Ministry of Economy building. There they placed slogans so that when officials go to work, they can see the citizens' dissatisfaction.
The organizers of the protest in Pristina announced a new protest on April 11, if the decision to increase energy tariffs is made.
The Energy Regulatory Office has warned that, starting this month, electricity bills could increase by 15 percent. The request for an increase in the price of electricity was made by the energy sector companies in Kosovo. Currently, for consumers in Kosovo who consume up to 800 kilowatt hours within a month, the price of electricity during the day is 7.79 cents per kilowatt. In the event of a 15 percent increase, they would pay 8.96 cents.
