Haxhi Thaçi, the father of former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi, has passed away after a long illness. The news was announced by the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, who expressed condolences to the Thaçi family and the entire Albanian people.
In a message of condolence, Krasniqi said that Haxhi Thaçi was an important figure for the Albanian nation, emphasizing the dedication and patriotic values that he conveyed through his upbringing.
"My deepest condolences to President Thaçi, the Thaçi family and the entire Albanian people. Haxhi Thaçi left an immortal legacy and was a strong pillar of our nation," Krasniqi wrote.
Haxhi Thaçi was hospitalized in Pristina hospital for treatment, while on March 13, 2025, former President Hashim Thaçi, currently in detention in The Hague, had received permission to visit his father.
