"It goes against normalization", EU criticizes Kosovo for closing

The European Union reacts with criticism against Kosovo for closing down illegal Serbian parallel structures in the north of the country.

Through a statement, spokesperson Anita Hiper emphasizes that the action carried out during the electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections conflicts with Kosovo's obligations towards the European Union within the framework of the normalization process, writes A2 CNN.

"EULEX is monitoring the conduct of these recent actions in accordance with its mandate. The status of the structures supported by Serbia is envisaged to be resolved through the EU-facilitated Dialogue," reads the Brussels statement. It further urges Kosovo to respect the commitments it has undertaken as tensions do not facilitate a decision to lift the EU measures.

The Minister of Interior, Xhelal Sveçla, announced the closure of several parallel municipalities of Serbia, post offices and tax offices in ten different municipalities of Kosovo. Later, the State Prosecutor's Office announced that it had not authorized the actions carried out to close the parallel structures. (A2 Televizion)
