Five days after his father passed away, former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi, with special permission from the Special Court, returned to Kosovo.
Thaçi arrived at his birthplace, in Burojë, Skënderaj, at around 11:00, where he stood for a few minutes near his father's grave, paying homage, and also laid a wreath of flowers.
"I came last to your grave, father. Thousands of citizens came before me. Soon, hand in hand, I will thank everyone. May the soil of Kosovo be light," were Thaçi's words, written on the wreath as a dedication to his father.
Afterwards, under strict security measures, Thaçi headed to his apartment in Burojë, where he reportedly met with close family members. The Special Court has granted two-day leave for the former President of Kosovo and he will stay at the EULEX offices in Pristina today.
Thaçi, after visiting the grave of his father, Haxhi Thaçi, and stopping for several hours at home, where he met with his mother and wife, was sent to these very offices.
At the entrance to the EULEX building, as happened in Burojë, the motorcade transporting Thaçi was greeted by dozens of citizens and his supporters with cheers.
