The Basic Court in Gjakova has approved the request of the Basic Prosecution, ordering the defendants BR, NV, PK and MS, of Serbian nationality, to be detained for thirty days, KosovaPress reports.
They are suspected of having co-perpetrated the criminal offense of "Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons."
According to the Prosecution's request, among other things, it is stated that "there is a well-founded suspicion that the defendants with the initials BR, NV, PK, MS, of Serbian nationality, on April 5, 2025, on Rr. "Gasper Karaqi" in Gjakova, the defendants in co-perpetration and acting in violation of the law on weapons, possess cold weapons, namely an axe, a knife with a sheath, and a saw knife, in such a way that after being stopped by police officers because the same with the gray Toyota vehicle, which was driven by the defendant BR, had exceeded the speed limit in the restricted area.
"...and after the driver of the vehicle was asked by police officers during the regular proceedings whether he possessed anything illegal in the vehicle, he replied that he did not have anything illegal with him, and he had expressed his desire to search the vehicle, and after a search of the vehicle by police officers, the sharp instruments mentioned above were found, which the defendants had kept during an organized visit to several Orthodox Monasteries in the Republic of Kosovo," the announcement states, KosovaPress reports.
According to Themelora, the Pre-Trial Judge Samedin Cena assessed that the legal conditions for imposing pre-trial detention on the defendants in question have been met, so that with the possible finding of the defendants at large, there is a risk of repetition of the criminal offense and the risk of flight.
