The three suspects in the Banjska terrorist attack, Vladimir Tolic, Blagoje Spasojevic and Dusan Maksimovic, have pleaded not guilty to charges of terrorism, financing of terrorism and serious criminal offences.
The lawyer for the family of the murdered sergeant, Afirm Bunjaku, as well as that of the injured officers, requested life imprisonment for the three defendants in order to ensure justice in the case.
"I request that they be sentenced to life imprisonment, this imprisonment is the minimum that belongs to Afrim Bunjaku's wife and children, and this is the minimum that belongs to all of us in Kosovo. We are submitting a legal property claim to join the criminal prosecution and above all I request that the trial begin as soon as possible in the absence of the other defendants," said Arianit Koci, the lawyer for Afrim Bunjaku's family.
At the hearing on the Banjska case held at the Basic Court of Pristina, the prosecutor of the Special Prosecution Office, Naim Abazi, presented photo and video evidence about the organization of Milan Radoićić's group and their goals.
"This was a long-planned attack, with heavy weaponry with a clear destabilizing aim, the destruction of the constitutional order, the violation of the territorial integrity of Kosovo and the creation of conditions for the secession of the northern municipalities of Kosovo. What were the consequences of the attack, the murder of the police officer, Afrim Bunjaku, which remains evidence of the sacrifice for the protection of the law and our territory," said Naim Abazi, prosecutor of the Special Prosecution Office.
The defense of the accused had objections regarding the indictment, saying that there are uncertainties.
"This indictment has many shortcomings. Fundamental shortcomings and lack of clarity. I confirm that only at first glance it seems today that after the presentation of photographs and other recordings it seems that this indictment is not of high quality," said Ljubomit Pantovic, lawyer for Blagoje Spasojevic.
In addition to the murder of Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku, police officers Alban Rashiti, Çlirim Sheqiri, Mirsad Kryeziu and Esat Dushi were also injured in this incident. (A2 Televizion)
