Dardan Molliqaj reveals the reasons why he withdrew from the race in Kosovo

Citizens in Kosovo have expressed disappointment with the language being used in the electoral campaign in Kosovo by the leaders of political parties, but above all with the harsh language of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, many see it as a fear of whether he will secure an absolute majority in the February 9 elections or not. What is happening with the other parties in the opposition and why is the Social Democratic Party not part of the race?

PSD leader Dardan Molliqaj spoke about these issues on Denisa Pasholli's Ditarin i meddit on A2 CNN. Initially, he revealed the reasons why he did not participate in the February 9th race.

"There are several factors. In the measurement of public opinion, our party is at the level of 2-3%, secondly, we do not have the finances to try our luck. Above all, what PSD has built to build in this time of 4 years under Kurti's government is not where it should be. There are two main reasons. First, Kurti's victory in 2021 was an accident and secondly, the explanation of the government that we are here for a long time and have a direct connection with the people. We think that we are dealing with an authoritarian government in Kosovo and we believe that it is not an accident and we believe that it is both powerful and dangerous. In these elections, two worldviews are facing each other where PSD is not. Here are two camps that are being tested, but I believe that it will be bad for Kosovo, since our reading is that the result will be unfavorable for what the citizens of Kosovo expect," said Molliqaj.

Further, the PSD leader emphasized that this party will have the credibility to build the opposition, while stating that the current opposition has made the wrong diagnosis about power.

"This is not a retreat, but a step aside. The PSD is the only political entity that will have the credibility to build the opposition. The current opposition has misdiagnosed the government and is giving it the wrong medicine. This means that the disease will not be cured, which in this case is the authoritarian rule of Albin Kurti," said Molliqaj. (A2 Televizion)
