ECAP rejects Vetëvendosje's complaint against Aleksandar Arsenijevic

The Electoral Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) has rejected as unfounded the complaint of the Vetëvendosje Movement against the leader of "Srpska Demokratija", Aleksandar Arsenijevic, regarding the violation of the code of conduct for political entities during the election campaign.

In justification of this decision, ECAP states that "on 14.01.2025, LVV filed a complaint against Arsenijevic alleging that on 12.01.2025 he obstructed the visit of Prime Minister Albin Kurti to North Mitrovica.

That day, Kurti had gone to the 'Misini' bar, which is located in this part of the city, and from there he had headed to the rally that would be held at the 'Minatori' sports gym. Aleksandar Arsenijevic had attempted to disrupt the activity by using offensive language in a loud voice and whistling at the prime minister, ministers and MPs who were with him.

Arsenijevic was arrested after he ignored recommendations to stop as he was obstructing activity.

In response to this complaint, the president of Srpska Demokratija announced that they were not aware that an election rally would be held there, the LVV's plan had been to visit South Mitrovica.

He further emphasized that the whistling was in protest that his freedom of movement was being impeded by the police cordon, that they did not know that the prime minister was a few meters away and that no one had announced that he could not move in that area.

According to the ECAP, the actions outlined in the complaint do not represent any alleged violation as the attached footage shows that there was no election rally. (A2 Televizion)
