Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said he believes that the increased readiness and presence of Serbian military forces on the border with Kosovo is a reaction to the largest military exercise “Defender Europe 2025”, which is also hosted by the Republic of Kosovo. In his address to the meeting of the Acting Government, Kurti said that the Republic of Kosovo is part of this exercise with approximately 1,000 members of the Kosovo Security Force.
"Currently, in three geographical areas on the European continent, the largest exercise that the US military organizes and carries out on the European continent, 'Defender Europe 25', is being carried out, with the participation of 25 thousand troops from 29 NATO countries. The Republic of Kosovo has the honor and pleasure to be among the 18 host countries, and that the Kosovo Security Force is participating with approximately 1000 troops in the exercises that are taking place in Kosovo, Albania, Croatia and North Macedonia. This time, the Republic of Kosovo is a country selected by the United States Army, where the command of the 28th Infantry Division is located.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the increased readiness and presence of Serbian armed forces on the border is not only a reaction to Defender Europe 2025. But, he added that what is not known is "whether Serbia is doing this itself or is it a request from Russia."
"We believe that the increased readiness and presence of the Serbian Armed Forces on our border is a reaction to Defender Europe 25, but what we do not know yet is whether Serbia is doing this itself or whether Russia has requested such a thing," he said.
