Albanians in the Presevo Valley are being excluded from Serbian state institutions. None of them were accepted in the latest Police competition. In Presevo, Medveđa and Bujanovac, Albanians are not being accepted into other institutions either. Local officials are speaking out against what appears to be an attempt to expel Albanians from their land.
"We are being discriminated against every day. We have the latest figure where no Albanian police officer has been accepted in the latest competition announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia. And this discrimination is a consequence of the fact that we are being discriminated against every day. Out of 43 accepted police officers, no Albanian in Bujanovac and Presevo has been hired, and then out of 22 employed in Medveđa, no Albanian is employed. Even though out of the number we have, there were 11 people who competed in this competition announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Minister Sveçla's approach is to be welcomed, because reciprocity should be used ," emphasizes Enkel Rexhepi, the president of the Albanian National Council, to A2 CNN.
"To make Albanians insecure in their autochthonousness, to expel them. The same program and elaborate is active today that was active during the 90s. Absolutely with special emphasis, it has always been putting pressure and injustice on Albanians for 100 years, both in Kosovo and in Macedonia and in the Presevo Valley. Now it has changed its methods, it does not use machine gun barrels, it does not use armored vehicles, it does not use tanks, it is using legal mechanisms that are absolutely unsupported by their own constitution. In this sense, they are mercilessly using the Albanians in Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac in order to expel Albanians from here.
