Artan Muhaxhiri, professor of Sociology and expert on political developments, described the repeated failure of the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo to continue the process of constituting the legislature as a regrettable situation.
He emphasizes that politicians are behaving irresponsibly towards the citizens who have entrusted them with their votes and, according to him, their behavior is irritating and disappointing.
"There is absolutely no will to cooperate and find a solution. In all likelihood, the only option [to overcome the impasse] is to turn to the Constitutional Court, because it, as the last instance, can issue a verdict to unblock the current situation," Muhaxhiri tells Radio Free Europe.
He adds that the impasse in the constitution of the Assembly is being deliberately caused by political parties, because with the constitution of the legislature, the way would be opened for the formation of the new Government of Kosovo.
In this context, according to him, neither the Vetëvendosje Movement, as the winning party, nor the three parties that were in opposition last term, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, have sufficient motivation to overcome the blockade on the constitution of the Assembly.
"If it were the other way around, this work would already be over... We are at a dead end, because [LVV leader Albin] Kurti does not want to form a government, while on the other hand, the opposition does not have the votes, because otherwise it would have to be more energetic in seeking legal solutions to get out of this deadlock," Muhaxhiri emphasizes.
According to him, blaming political parties for the stalled process of establishing the Assembly, the Vetevendosje Movement on one side and the PDK, LDK and AAK, is just playing the "role of victims" in front of the citizens of the country./ REL (A2 Televizion)
