The Democratic Party of Kosovo is ready to form a new government, the party's leader, Memli Krasniqi, has announced, writes A2 CNN. In a statement to the media, before entering the Kosovo Assembly to register as a deputy of the ninth legislature, Krasniqi added that they are awaiting the political movements of the Vetevendosje Movement (LVV).
"The Constitution foresees that the Assembly will be constituted on the 15th. It is not necessary for us to vote. All we expect is that the Speaker of the Assembly will be proposed on the 15th, while we propose the deputy speakers. Why should we be the ones voting for the Speaker of the Assembly? There is no problem in securing 61 votes for the Speaker. I only hope that there will be respect for the will of the citizens, the vote of the citizens and the Constitution of Kosovo. On Tuesday, the first party should propose the Speaker of the Assembly - this is important to happen. The moment this happens, I am convinced that there will be no problem in securing 61 votes," he said.
Krasniqi stressed that PDK is ready, with its candidate for prime minister, Bedri Hamza, to take on the formation of the new government of Kosovo.
"It is a very normal order of legitimacy that, if the first fails, then the second takes the mandate. The President, in the event of Kurti's failure as the first in these elections, should invite us to mandate us. We already have Bedri Hamza mandated. I am convinced that he is beyond a party figure - he is a figure acceptable to other parties and to citizens in general, regardless of the votes they cast on February 9. We could put the interests of the country above the interests and party demands that the parties may have," declared the PDK leader.
Meanwhile, Krasniqi did not fail to mention the role of the President of Kosovo and the end of her mandate.
"It is too early to talk about the president - she still has 11 months left in her term. If a quick agreement were reached on the formation of a new government led by Bedri Hamza, I think we would enter a 10-11 month process that would bring about a new situation," he said.
Yesterday, the deputies elected by the first party to emerge victorious in the February 9 elections - the Vetëvendosje Movement - were registered as deputies of the Kosovo Assembly. (A2 Televizion)
