The Government of Kosovo has launched the Digital Governance Strengthening Project for the Provision of Services "Digital Kosovo", organized in partnership with the World Bank. This project marks the beginning of a transformative initiative, funded by the World Bank, that aims to modernize governance and improve the delivery of public services through digital innovation. The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has considered the "Digital Kosovo" project as an ambitious initiative that supports the government's ambition for the modernization of public services.
"This initiative with a budget of 18.5 million euros aims not only to give impetus to the advancement of digital governance, but also to redefine the approach of the public administration to the provision of services. It is directly related to our E-government strategy 2023-2027... At the core of the 'Digital Kosovo' project is a simple fundamental principle: public administration exists to serve the citizens. Our strategy aims to build a public administration through digitalization that is transparent and accountable in its work and efficient and comprehensive in providing services as well as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth ," said Kurti.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, emphasized that the "Digital Kosovo" project is a turning point for Kosovo's journey towards digital transformation.
"It marks a turning point in our journey towards digital transformation, paving the way for a future where technology empowers citizens, simplifies government processes and creates the foundations for a more inclusive and prosperous society... It's not just the use of new technologies, but it is the use of technology to create a government that is simple, efficient and transparent. This means putting the citizen at the center of the transformative process by ensuring that digital tools and services are designed to meet their needs and improve their quality of life. Our path towards digital transformation has been full of challenges anyway", said Zveçla.
Massimiliano Paolucci, manager for Kosovo and North Macedonia from the World Bank, said that the project reflects the ambition to reduce obstacles when receiving public services and increases trust between citizens and institutions.
"This project reflects the joint ambition of the Government of Kosovo and the World Bank to strengthen governance, to reduce obstacles when receiving services and to increase trust between citizens and institutions. The project is fully harmonized with the World Bank's strategy for Kosovo, which we call the 'Partnership Framework' last year and we are implementing it together. This project supports greater efficiency and quality of public services and will be the engine of governance transformation, using digital solutions, etc. The project offers more than that, it foresees the creation of formal jobs and the creation of opportunities for development. It lays the foundations for private sector growth and job creation there," said Massimiliano Paolucci, World Bank.
The "Digital Kosovo" project is financed by the World Bank and supported by the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo. (A2 Televizion)
