Political parties in Kosovo are still far from an agreement to unblock the impasse over the constitution of the Assembly and the creation of new institutions.
On Friday, the Vetëvendosje Movement made it clear that if the speaker of parliament is not elected by Sunday, they may seek interpretation of the mandates of the deputies after 30 days have passed since the certification of the results.
Although the Constitution does not specify anything about the burning of mandates, it says that the session must be held within a month of the certification of the results by the Central Election Commission, which took place on March 27.
“This situation is not something that can go on forever, it can lead to a completely different circumstance where the joint discussion with political entities is gradually approaching another election date,” said Mimoza Kusari-Lila.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo stressed that there are only two ways out of this situation, either the constitution of the Assembly, or new elections.
"If we do not get out of this situation, the elections must be held in May or June, we cannot leave the country hostage to the whims of Albin Kurti and Albulena Haxhiu, this is terrible what is happening to the country", said Memli Krasniqi.
Meanwhile, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo said that the position of the Speaker of the Assembly belongs to Vetëvendosje and that the constitution of the Assembly should continue.
However, it was not clarified whether AAK could vote differently on Sunday, but there was criticism of the largest parties that until yesterday were in opposition, such as PDK and LDK.
"Not even the opposition is coming together to figure out how to get out of this situation, we are the smallest party, as if we are being expected from those who are a little bigger [vj PDK and LDK]", declared Bekë Berisha.
Bosniak MP, Duda Balje, confirmed that there will be no cooperation with Kurti due to the treatment she received during the previous mandate when they were in coalition.
"I stand behind the position we have taken as a party, on behalf of my party, on behalf of the people who voted for us. We are not changing our position," said Dude Balja.
The next session for the constitution of the Assembly will be held on Sunday, starting at 10:00. (A2 Televizion)
