Former member of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Gramos Agusholli, was detained this morning by Serbian authorities at the border crossing in Merdare, while he was in transit towards Slovenia.
The news was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, according to which immediately after the arrest, the Kosovo Liaison Office in Serbia informed the diplomatic missions of the QUINT countries and the European Union Office in Belgrade.
At the same time, the MFA has also informed the diplomatic missions of these countries and the EU Office in Kosovo. The Ministry has initiated procedures to provide complete and official information about the detention of Agusholli.
In its response, the MFA described the detention as an arbitrary and repressive act, which contradicts international law and international human rights conventions. It called on the International Community to react urgently and demand the immediate release of the former MP.
"Such practices constitute a serious violation of the fundamental principles of freedom of movement and are unacceptable for a country that aspires to European integration," the MFA's response states.
The Ministry has assured that it will keep the public and international partners informed of any further developments regarding this case. (A2 Televizion)
