Kallas gives good news: EU has begun gradual lifting of punitive measures

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, has stated that the European Union has begun the gradual lifting of punitive measures against Kosovo.

Kallas made the comments during a statement to the media from Kosovo, where he also met with the main leaders of political parties.

Kallas also said that the full lifting of sanctions by the EU depends on the de-escalation of the situation in northern Kosovo and on respect for the Ohrid Agreement.

She also said that she has personally worked for the lifting of sanctions, but added that many EU countries say that Kosovo must make additional progress in de-escalating the situation in the North, so that the measures can be lifted.

"The EU has begun the gradual lifting of punitive measures against Kosovo. This also depends on the de-escalation of the situation in the North. I have personally worked with member states to lift the measures, but some states say that Kosovo must respect the Ohrid Accords and the actions in the North complicate the situation," Kallas said.

We recall that yesterday Kallas also visited Serbia, where he called for dialogue and a reduction in tensions between the two countries. (A2 Televizion)
