Over 66% of postal votes counted in Kosovo, Vetëvendosje leads convincingly

In the early hours of Monday, the Central Election Commission (CEC) updated the results of postal votes counted so far, valid for the regular parliamentary elections held on February 9.

With over 66 percent of polling stations processed, the Vetëvendosje Movement leads with 52.72 percent, followed by the Democratic League of Kosovo with 29.8 percent.

According to the results published online by the electoral authorities, the Democratic Party of Kosovo is in third place with 7.98 percent. While the coalition between the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Social Democratic Initiative is in fourth place, with 3.32 percent.

The counting of postal votes began on February 28, and the Central Election Commission said it had approved more than 63,000 packages of ballots.

For the February 9 elections, in addition to voting by mail, citizens of the country were for the first time able to vote physically at several diplomatic missions.

The counting of votes from diplomatic missions has been completed and according to the CEC, LVV received the most votes, namely 12,261 votes or 80.71 percent.

After the completion of the counting of postal votes, the counting of conditional votes and votes of persons with special needs will continue, enabling the certification of results and paving the way for the formation of new institutions.

In addition to votes from diplomatic missions, the counting of regular votes has initially been completed in Kosovo.

According to preliminary results of regular voting, the Vetëvendosje Movement is first with 40.80 percent of the votes won, followed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo with 22.05 percent.

The Democratic League of Kosovo came in third with 17.64 percent of the votes, followed by the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo with 7.46 percent of the votes won.

These figures show that no party has enough votes to form a majority in Kosovo's 120-seat Assembly.

Of the parties of the Serbian community, the Serbian List received the most votes, namely 4.62 percent. / REL (A2 Televizion)
