Kosovo remains on the lips of Russian officials. The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, spoke at a press conference about the unsubstantiated danger that Albin Kurti poses to the Serbian minority in Kosovo. According to Zakharova, who is often known as the "shadow" person spreading pro-Kremlin propaganda in the Balkans, she emphasizes that the Serbian List in Kosovo represents the only obstacle for Albin Kurti's ruling party. Zakharova alludes to scenarios of war and discrimination against Serbs in northern Mitrovica.
"The main obstacle for the institutions in Pristina is the largest Serb party in Kosovo, the Srpska List, which is the only one capable of resisting the massive violation of the rights of the Serb population in the upcoming elections on February 9. The "Parliament" for this reason initially tried to prevent the party from participating in the elections and is now not allowing its observers to join the election commissions," said Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Zakharova warns of falsification of the election results in Kosovo, even though they are strictly monitored by the Council of Europe, the European Union Mission and the OSCE/ODIHR. According to Zakharova, the falsification will be done with the aim of installing figures loyal to Pristina. Zakharova also mentioned the closure of several institutions that operated in parallel in the north of Mitrovica.
"Such a scenario brings the most terrible consequences for the Serbs living in the region and the stability of the entire Balkan region. The situation 'on the ground' is complicated by the increasingly frequent raids of the regional 'police' against officials of the Serbian administrations that are not under the control of Pristina, the brutal repression of demonstrators aims to increase fear among already frightened citizens, make them morally broken and force them to leave their homes ," Zakharova said.
Finally, Zakharova called on international missions deployed in the region to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1244, aimed at protecting the Serbian minority in Kosovo. (A2 Televizion)
