The Government of Kosovo has approved the additions of dangerousness for the members of the Kosovo Police, in a meeting held on November 16. The Kosovar executive has divided the amount of allowances into seven categories, depending on the positions of the officials in the Kosovo Police. On October 27, the government presented the additions for the dangerousness of the members of the Police.
For the elite units, namely the Special Intervention Unit, the Rapid Intervention Unit and the Close Protection Unit, the allowances will be 150 euros above the basic salary. Meanwhile, for the Explosives and Demining Unit, the government has said that the supplement will be worth 120 euros.
Members of the border patrols will benefit from 100 euros per month, while members of the investigation will receive an additional 75 euros per month. Response teams and patrols, which make up the largest number of the Kosovo Police, will receive an additional 60 euros per month, while police officers who are committed to the security of facilities and those in operations management will be allocated 50, respectively 40 additional euros of risk.
According to the local media , the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that the categorization and value of the allowances was done with special care, taking into consideration all the factors related to the work and responsibilities of the Kosovo Police.
"We are and will continue to remain committed to the improvement of working conditions and equipment for the Kosovo Police, so that, in addition to facilitating work, we can influence the reduction of risk while performing duties and responsibilities", stated Kurti .
Risk allowances, Kurti said, will start to be applied from the November salary. The Prime Minister of Kosovo has said that with the approval of this decision, close to 8,000 police officials are expected to benefit.
A week ago, members of the Special Intervention Unit of the Kosovo Police and the Unit for the Handling of Explosive Devices protested in front of the Government of Kosovo building, demanding a review of the categorization for dangerousness at work.
Kosovo police salaries start from 210 euros per month for police cadets, and reach over 1500 euros per month for the General Director. Formed 24 years ago, the Kosovo Police has over 9,000 members of various ranks. They have neither health nor life insurance. (A2 Televizion)
