The frost that covered almost the entire country on Saturday afternoon and during Sunday caused problems mainly in the mountainous areas of the southeast and north of the country. Dozens of blocked villages, lack of electricity supply and suspension of the teaching process in about 80 schools from the north to the southeast, are some of the problems also identified by the civil emergency headquarters of the respective districts.
Thus, in the southeast of the country, there are dozens of villages blocked by snowfall, 30 schools that have announced the suspension of the educational process, while the number of families in mountainous areas that have been left without electricity reaches about 800. While the thickness of the snow in these areas ranges from 20 to 50 cm.
A similar situation occurs in the north of the country. Some deep mountain villages are blocked while the main axes and national roads are passable, but some of them are crossed with chains.
Electricity is missing in several administrative units, while the teaching process has been suspended in at least 20 schools in the Kukës district. Meanwhile, snowfall and strong winds have also created problems on the roads in the mountainous areas of the Elbasan district.
In the mountain villages of the municipalities of Gramsh, Elbasan, Librazhdi and Prrenjas, there are difficulties in the roads that connect these areas, there are interruptions in the supply of electricity, and the teaching process has also been suspended. During the hours of Sunday evening, there was also a problem with the circulation of vehicles on the national axis Prrenjas-Qafë-Thane and Tirana Elbasan at the entrance to the Krraba tunnel.
