At the ceremony for the opening of the international competition for the Vorë-Hani i Hoti railway line, the EU ambassador in Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, also showed the reason why his son has been reluctant to visit Tirana.
According to him, the lack of a line connecting Albania with the European railway network has prevented his ecologist son from coming to our country.
" This railway connection of Albania with neighboring and European countries is vital for regional integration and we can hardly wait for the launch of the works for Corridor 8, another strategic connection for Albania and the EU region. This project will bring concrete benefits to all citizens and will bring more tourism, international tourism. Because of course, for example my son does not like to use the plane because of the climate, environmental reasons. And he said to me: Can he come to Tirana, through the overland railway? I said no, sorry no. So what he did is he went all the way to the south of Italy by train and then took the ferry. So I really hope that this railway line will be inaugurated as soon as possible so that people can have the opportunity to move in ecological ways. As for these ecological modes of transport, this is also very important for the EU green deal. And of course this will be part of Albania's objectives because electric railway lines will actually reduce the environmental impact of transport ," said Gonzato. (A2 Televizion)
