Begaj in Kosovo, visit to KFOR command

During a visit to the KFOR command in Pristina, President Begaj met with the commander of this mission, Major General Enrico Barduani, and the Albanian personnel serving there.

With the KFOR Commander, President Begaj discussed the security challenges facing Kosovo in the context of developments, especially in the North of the country and in the entire region. The President of the Republic expressed gratitude to Major General Barduani for his contribution and also conveyed his thanks to his country, Italy, which has the largest number of troops in Kosovo.

The Head of State emphasized the necessity of KFOR's presence for maintaining peace and security in Kosovo, while appreciating the key role that this mission has played so far not only for Kosovo, but also for stability in the Balkans.

President Begaj expressed to the KFOR Commander, Major General Enrico Barduani, Albania's unwavering support for NATO and the KFOR mission, which he described as a "success story", as well as Albania's readiness to increase the number of troops if necessary.

Albania has the largest number of personnel serving in KFOR participating in international missions abroad. During the meeting with the Albanian military, the President of the Republic, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, praised their commitment and dedication to a service that he considers of great national importance since, as he stated, in addition to their contribution to NATO, to peace and security, their participation in KFOR serves the peace, security and well-being of Kosovo, which is our priority.

President Begaj assessed that the legal improvements testify to the growing attention and support of institutions towards the Armed Forces.

"You represent the best part of the Albanian state, because you make us proud with your activity, commitment, sense of responsibility, contribution", - praised President Begaj at this meeting where he was accompanied by the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, and the Ambassador of Albania to the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Petrit Malaj.
