Puppet Theater opens after restoration, Rama: Infrastructure and development

Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the ceremony for the inauguration of the Puppet Theater in "Skënderbej" Square, which has been completely restored after the damage the structure suffered from the 2019 earthquake, said that the reopening of the doors of this building is important as it shows that the development of the infrastructure it is also put into use for children, who in modern society benefit less and less from the developing infrastructure of cities.

"I am very glad that after a relatively long period of closure due to the work that had to be done to save this building, its doors have now been opened and the Theater's activity will resume. Among the buildings damaged by the earthquake were a number of buildings of cultural heritage and for this reason a special program was built in cooperation with friends of the European Union and there are 27 buildings of special value for our history and our culture, thanks to this program have returned to the eyes and hands of the communities much more beautiful than they were before. Beyond these, I believe that this theater has a special importance also due to the fact that in general today's cities and countries today and the development of infrastructure is put in the function of everyone, but the most problematic part is that of children. Who are least involved in development outcomes. Beautiful hotels, buildings, resorts and offices are built, but what is left for the children is always very little. For this reason, it is always more than a building, so I am very glad that this door was opened", said Rama.

Rama also stated that despite the large hole that the deadly earthquake caused in the roof of the Puppet Theatre, the condition of the building "has long been regrettable", and therefore the government, according to him, has started the project for the Children's Theater near the Guard of the Republic , at the entrance to the park of the Artificial Lake of Tirana.

"This project has started to take shape where the entrance to the city park is and that will soon open its doors with spaces and a much wider and more varied program for children of all ages. However, this building has a history, there is an important reason to maintain it and for all this investment that was made. Investment that is much more than it seems at first glance. This theater did not have central heating and cooling before, today it does, and so on," said Rama. (A2 Televizion)
