The day after Edi Rama's criticism of the judiciary's governance, the heads of justice institutions gathered behind closed doors at a joint table. The Prime Minister's invitation to wake up, after the Tirana Court took 7 years to dismiss his civil lawsuit for defamation against Lulzim Basha, was passed over in silence by the senior justice inspector.
The only one who responded to the head of government was Holta Zaçaj, the president of the Constitutional Court, an institution that had also publicly reacted to Rama's public stances regarding the judges' request for another salary increase, writes A2 CNN.
"I do not believe that the statements amount to pressure," said Holta Zaçaj, the president of the Constitutional Court.
The meeting that brought them together was the "Cross-Sectoral Justice Strategy 2024-2030: Achievements and Challenges of its Implementation in the Context of European Integration", where they discussed what awaits the judicial system in the coming years as the country prepares to integrate into the European Union.
