No longer a haven for criminals, Dubai's beaches will return! Halimi

The former Minister of Justice, Eduart Halimi, revealed in the studio of "Every angle" by Merita Haklaj on A2 CNN that very soon there will be developments regarding the extradition of the much-wanted Albanian justices who are taking refuge in Dubai.

Although he admitted that there is very little chance that an extradition agreement will be signed between Albania and the United Arab Emirates, Halimi explained that there is information that work is being done to find legal instruments that pave the way for the extradition of crime figures.

"The United Emirates has a different situation. We have an office there that serves commercial civil matters and not criminal matters. However, the permanent contacts and visits I make on a regular basis give me the opportunity to have constant information from my colleagues. The Emirates do not have an extradition agreement with Albania and from the information I have, I do not see that there is a quick agreement to be signed. However, there are interesting developments. I do not believe that Dubai will be a haven for people for a long time. EUROPOL has opened a new office 6 months ago in Dubai and is working together with the Dubai authorities and the countries they are looking for, including Albania, Germany and other countries, thinking and dealing with some other instruments. So, the relationship of the Albanian, German, Italian, Belgian, Spanish law enforcement bodies with the United Emirates will probably not go through extradition agreements, but will go through some instruments other than the extradition agreement, for which to my knowledge the authorities of the Emirates are working. And there will be developments, the taking of people, withdrawal through legal instruments", revealed Halimi in "Every corner" by Merita Haklaj on A2 CNN.

According to the former Minister of Justice, this is a positive step in the fight against crime and the attraction of those persons who present a strong danger to the countries from which they are wanted.

"But the reports and situations they have in the countries of the United Emirates should also be seen. That is why we are working on other, effective instruments, some of which have been made in Albania and some are waiting to be made and there will be developments and you will know very quickly if we have people from Dubai to come here", he explained . further Halimi in 'Every corner' by Merita Haklaj on A2 CNN.
