The National Food Authority informed today that it has taken all measures for increased monitoring and increased control along the entire green border of the Albanian territory to prohibit the import of small livestock from all countries for which the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, has ordered a ban on their entry into the territory of the Republic of Albania.
In a press release, the AKU said that it "is also inspecting all border inspection posts (BIPs) and is fully prepared for inter-institutional cooperation with the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Agency, the General Directorate of Customs and the Border Police."
Likewise, the AKU announces that based on the order of the Minister of MARD, the temporary movement and trade of small livestock within the territory of the Republic of Albania is prohibited.
According to the AKU, this step was taken to prevent the spread of the plague disease that has struck certain small ruminant farms in the Albanian territory.
Based on the order of the Minister of MARD, the movement of small livestock is allowed only if the destination of the movement is to a slaughterhouse, accompanied by an official veterinary health certificate issued by the official veterinarian. (A2 Televizion)
