Rrodokali i Poshtëm, a village in Mokër, Pogradec, is one of the areas that still preserves the old spirit of rural life. Here, people live by farming and animal husbandry, in a peaceful, but often forgotten, daily life.
Like many rural areas, Rrodokali has been affected by emigration. But it seems that not everyone leaves to never return. Danjel Novaku, a young man who recently returned from emigration, has decided to invest by building a guesthouse. He says that after 17 years of emigration he has decided not to leave anymore, in the guesthouse he has three rooms, a traditional kitchen, and a stone oven where local food is cooked, this guesthouse offers not only rest, but also an experience of local culture.
The villagers have welcomed this initiative. They hope that such returns will bring more life and attention to the area, especially for the roads, which still remain a major problem.
Danjeli intends to build wooden huts in the future to expand the reception capacity, of course, if things go well with tourists.
Meanwhile, for the area administrator, Ramis Pura, the projects that will be implemented in infrastructure and water supply will give the area even more development.
In Rrodokal, it seems that a return turned into an opportunity. And where stones speak with history, there is always room for hope.
