As announced a few days ago by the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku, a test flight will be carried out on May 8th at the Vlora airport runway.
Prime Minister Edi Rama confirmed this through a post on Facebook, where alongside a video showing the airport's lined runway, he wrote: " 3 more days from the landing of the first plane on the runway coded with the initials VLO and the start of the gradual opening tests, for final certification ."
Vlora Airport will be the newest in the Mediterranean and will serve tourism, the economy and direct connections to the Albanian Riviera.
The International Air Transport Association has assessed the application of Vlora International Airport as in line with international standards, establishing the code for airports and ticket sales VLO.
Vlora Airport is a 104.5 million euro investment and is located in Akërni, no more than 10 minutes from the Levan-Vlora highway. The airport's runway is 3.2 kilometers long, enabling transoceanic flights.
The airport is expected to be a base for the "Air Albania" aircraft fleet, but also a haven for "low cost" companies that will enable flights to similar airports in Italy, Greece or Spain. (A2 Televizion)
